Dhan Bahadur Moktan, from Hetauda–15, Kamane, Makwanpur, has been working with SDA for nearly a decade as an Education Staff member. Beginning his professional journey as a teacher, he remains deeply committed to promoting child-friendly and quality education within his community. He works closely with local governments, schools, and focal persons to strengthen sustainable education systems and believes that investing in quality education is essential for securing a better future. Alongside his educational work, he has continued to build his professional skills through computer training, field experience, and various capacity-building programs, enabling him to effectively coordinate education projects and branch-level activities under SDA.
Agriculture Staff
Puran Bahadur Khadka is a dedicated agriculture professional from Achham District, Sudurpaschim Province, with over six years of experience working with Shangri-La Development Association (SDA). With an academic background in Plant Science, he has actively contributed to agricultural development and community-based initiatives in rural Nepal. His expertise includes organic farming, off-season vegetable cultivation, tree nursery management, farmer group facilitation, and community participation programs. Passionate about sustainable agriculture, Puran works closely with farmers and local communities to promote improved farming practices, technical awareness, and rural livelihoods while continuing to strengthen his knowledge and skills in the field.
Social Mobilizer - Agriculture
Ram Kumar Praja, from Kailash Rural Municipality–8, Barta, Makwanpur, has been serving as an Agriculture Social Mobilizer at SDA since 2023. Having completed his +2 education along with vocational training in veterinary services, he has developed practical skills in livestock management and basic animal healthcare. Through his work, Ram actively supports farmers and local communities through agricultural activities, awareness programs, and field-based initiatives. Known for his hardworking and community-focused nature, he remains committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development in his community.
Health Staff
Born and raised in Ward No. 15 of Birgunj Municipality in Parsa District, Madhesh Province, Soni joined Shangri-La Development Association (SDA) in May 2024 as the Project Head of the Health Project. Prior to joining SDA, she worked with various NGOs in roles such as DIC, Field Supervisor, and Program Officer, focusing on child protection, harm reduction, and community health. As a dedicated member of the SDA team, she leads maternal and newborn health initiatives across project areas by coordinating with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), mothers’ groups, and local stakeholders to conduct health meetings, awareness programs, and training sessions. Through her work, she plays an important role in strengthening community health systems and improving access to essential healthcare services in rural communities.
Social Mobilizer - Health
Born and raised in Ward No. 7 of Kailash Rural Municipality, Makwanpur, Chameli Muktan first connected with SDA in 2020 through an 18-month Veterinary Course under the SDA Vocational Support Program. She later completed six months of on-the-job training with the SDA Agriculture Project before joining the organization as a Health Social Mobilizer. For more than three years, Chameli has been actively supporting health-related activities across SDA project areas by coordinating community health meetings, awareness programs, and outreach initiatives aimed at improving health awareness and access to services. Her dedication to grassroots engagement and community wellbeing continues to create meaningful impact in the communities she serves.
Kitchen Staff / Office Assistant
Laxmi Maya Chepang has been a valued member of SDA since its early days and is widely appreciated for her dedication and exceptional culinary skills. As the person behind the meals prepared at the Literacy Home, she plays an important role in creating a warm and supportive environment for children and staff alike. Hardworking and dependable, Laxmi continues to contribute to the daily functioning of SDA with care and commitment.
Gardener
Samjhana Praja is a dedicated gardener who plays an important role in maintaining SDA’s agricultural land. Beginning her day by caring for livestock, watering vegetables, and tending the surrounding environment, she contributes to the cultivation of organic fruits and vegetables that support SDA Literacy Home and partner schools. A mother of four, Samjhana is known for her hardworking and humble nature. Through her daily efforts, she helps promote sustainable farming practices while supporting the wellbeing of the children and communities connected to SDA.
